On Saturdays, my friend drives a racing car simulator with a professional coach. Driving on a circuit is one of the most disciplined of all the forms of competitive sports. In order to improve in driving, since his coach and him drive the very same car on the exact same circuit, sitting in an identical simulator to each other, he must analyze mistakes accurately.
On the face of it, there is no reason, not physical or otherwise, which would give him an advantage over him, but they don’t lap at the same speed. Teammates in Formula 1 generate starkly different results as well.
Driving requires many skills, but it starts with the understanding that the laws of physics apply to the car, and the driver must adhere to them or he’ll crash.
